On Sunday April 25th Scouts came to celebrate Steven L’s Eagle Court of Honor. Less than four percent of all Boy Scouts are ever awarded this prestigious honor. Following Steven’s Court of Honor, Mr. Todd was awarded the Wood Badge. Wood Badge is a tradition that started in England to train Scout Leaders. After both ceremonies everyone was treated to cake and punch. Jack Van Keuren, Historian

On Tuesday Dr. Reynolds gave a presentation about bike maintenance for the upcoming bike trip. As you may or may not know, bikes are the most efficient form of human powered travel. Here are some of the most important things to check and make sure your bike is ready for the trip: · Are your tires worn? · Are your spokes straight? · Make sure your chain isn’t worn. · Check to make sure your handlebars are straight and aren’t loose. · Make sure your seat is properly adjusted. · Check to make sure your brakes are adjusted to your rims. On the weekend the Scouts went on a camping trip to Via Ferrata in Kentucky. When they got there, they were greeted by a nice rain storm, but that didn’t stop them from setting up their tents. Luckily, the rain stopped before the actual climbing on Saturday. Via Ferrata is a large curved rock face with six actual climbing courses. The climbing courses vary in difficulty from beginner to advanced. It also includes two swinging bridges, a tight ropewalk and a log ladder. Training Rock At the meeting on Tuesday the Scouts met in their patrol corners to plan for the Via Ferrata climbing campout. Several scouts were also given rank advancements including special 100th anniversary Tenderfoot patches. The game was two-hand-touch football on the front lawn of the church.
