The Zoo

Elyse from the Cincinnati Zoo came to visit and brought some animals.   They brought an armadillo, a snake, an owl, and a skink.   The Eastern Screech Owl is one of the smallest breeds of owl. The armadillo was a hairy armadillo and was only three months old.   The skink was a blue tongue skink and its tongue was blue, I bet you would have never thought of that.   We got to touch all the animals except the owl.

Caving and Hiking

The two events this week were a campout and a rank advancement meeting.   At the meeting, not many people got requirements signed off.   The caving campout was fun.  In the morning we hiked and in the afternoon we caved.  The first thing we did in the cave was a boat tour.  Then we did a wild tour where we crawled through the cave; we all got wet and muddy.  At the end, we had another boat tour because ours was shorter than it was supposed to be.  We slept on rather uncomfortable bunks inside the cave Saturday night.

Caving and Zombies

The Scout meeting this week was very good.  We had a skill session on the caving campout.  After that we played dodge ball.  Dodge ball was nice because we hadn’t played it in a while.  At first we played zombie dodge ball, then later we played normal dodge ball.  Zombie dodge ball is like normal dodge ball except when you get hit you just switch sides instead of getting out.

Court of Honor

This week we had a lot of things going on.  We had a Court of Honor on Sunday, a scout meeting on Tuesday, and a planning meeting for the Boundary Waters trip on Thursday.  At the Court of Honor, we ate a lot of food.  Scouts got awarded ranks and badges that they had earned.  There was a good presentation on the National Jamboree.  The Scout meeting was going to be ice skating, but the rink had a hockey game.  Instead we had an instructional meeting.  The younger scouts worked on requirements while the older scouts signed them off.  At the Boundary Waters meeting, the crews looked at routes and elected a leader.

First Aid

This meeting we had campout planning.   Campout planning took longer than usual.   We had a skill session on first aid.
