Fall Court of Honor

Fall Court of Honor      Instead of a regular troop meeting, this week, we held our fall Court of Honor. Scouts received their merit badges from summer camp, and those who earned a new rank over the summer received rank cards and (for some) patches. First we began with our flag ceremony, put on by the Serpents. After that, our Chaplain’s Aide led a prayer and Seamus G. (the SPL) welcomed everyone and gave a few announcements. Then it was time for the presentation of those eagerly awaited merit badges. Matt B., one of our troop guides, did a great job handing them out. There were way too many to mention here, but nearly fifty Scouts were given merit badges that they earned this summer. Once all the merit badges had been given out, all of the names had been read, and all the clapping and congratulating had stopped, it was time for rank presentation. Several Scouts each had earned Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, and Life.      ...

That Time of Year Again

That Time of Year Again          This Tuesday, we had our first troop meeting of this Scouting year. The Eagles and Dragons turned in tents from camp, and then it all started. We had our flag ceremony. Seamus gave a presentation about all the great campouts and meetings for the year. Then the patrols held signup and planning for the New Scout Induction Campout this month, as well as signup for Peterloon, in October. After that, it was time for a good old game of dodgeball. Once the throwing, dodging, and chaos was over, we fell in, and Mrs. Haught announced that popcorn time would soon begin. We circled up, and it was announced that Ryan Z. is our newest Life Scout. Congratulations! Then, we dismissed until our second meeting of the Scouting year.
