Fall Court of Honor
Fall
Court of Honor
Instead of a
regular troop meeting, this week, we held our fall Court of Honor. Scouts
received their merit badges from summer camp, and those who earned a new rank
over the summer received rank cards and (for some) patches. First we began with
our flag ceremony, put on by the Serpents. After that, our Chaplain’s Aide led
a prayer and Seamus G. (the SPL) welcomed everyone and gave a few
announcements. Then it was time for the presentation of those eagerly awaited
merit badges. Matt B., one of our troop guides, did a great job handing them
out. There were way too many to mention here, but nearly fifty Scouts were
given merit badges that they earned this summer. Once all the merit badges had
been given out, all of the names had been read, and all the clapping and
congratulating had stopped, it was time for rank presentation. Several Scouts
each had earned Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, and Life.
The lights
went out, the projector screen lowered, and Max B. and Alex S. came forward to
tell us about Sea Base, which was this past summer’s high adventure trip. They
showed pictures, described the trip and the things they did, and told a few
interesting stories about their experiences on the boats. After that
presentation, the patrol leaders and others who were elected last spring were
sworn in. Then Mr. Todd gave his Scoutmaster Minute, and we had a closing
prayer and flag ceremony.
