2014 Eagle Court of Honor

2014 Eagle Court of Honor

This year's Eagle Court of Honor celebrated three Eagle Scouts. Justin D., Ben M., and Alex S. were Troop 281's 99th, 100th, and 101st Eagle Scouts. It was an afternoon to recognize the amazing achievements of those three Scouts.
The first thing that needed to take place before the court of honor was setting up the court of honor. Adults and Scouts rushed around, setting up tables and chairs, hauling things around, and many other tasks. Meanwhile, the families of the Eagle Scouts (including the Eagle Scouts themselves) took pictures, set up their Trail to Eagle tables, and discussed what would take place.

After a while, the setup was complete, and the people started arriving. The 2014 Eagle Court of Honor was ready to begin. Leaders and their fathers gave emotional speeches about the three Scouts. They were presented with their Eagle patches. Their parents received their Eagle Mom pins and Eagle Dad tie tacks. The three Scouts were given other awards, and we were informed that three flags would be flown above the U.S. Capitol, and would be given to the Eagle Scouts. It was also said that famous people would send congratulatory letters to them. After being presented with eagle feathers and giving the down feathers to younger Scouts, Justin, Ben, and Alex knelt at the alter and prayed.

After the ceremony, three delicious sheet cakes were cut and devoured (there were some leftovers, though), and punch was served. Everybody wanted to have a slice of cake with Alex's picture on it, but the cake cutters couldn't bear to cut it. It was given to Alex and his family. People walked around a bit, and eventually left. Many pictures were taken of the Eagle Scouts, and many people congratulated them. Finally it was time to clean up. Everything was taken down, and in a short time, the room was quiet and empty, just as it had been before.
