Cycling Meeting

Cycling Meeting

This week, we went to Freedom Gear Cyclery to learn about bikes and how to take care of them. Freedom Gear is a bike shop owned by Max B.'s parents. After starting the meeting in the parking lot, we broke up into four groups to go to four stations. Three stations were inside. One was about taking care of and fixing bikes, one was about bike wheels and how to change tires and tubes, and one was about what to have with you when cycling. The last station, in the parking lot, was the fun one. It was riding bikes. There were young, tiny Scouts riding bikes whose pedals they could hardly reach. There were older Scouts riding road bikes and an elliptical bike who looked like they were having the best time of their lives. There weren't really any major accidents. Just a few tire bumps of the tricycles and David D. knocking over the elliptical bike. When we ended the meeting, we didn't circle up, but did all the usual stuff when falling in. There were announcements about next week's meeting and the campout, Bryan C. and Ben S. were given their First Class patches, and the meeting was over.

Thank you to Max's parents for a good time learning about (and riding) bikes. Learn more about Freedom Gear at www.freedomgearcyclery.com .
